Helping women leave the streets and build a life of their own.
A vision by Janiya · Brooklyn · East New York
The Vision
Phenomenal Woman is in its founding stage.
Janiya is also the visionary behind Phenomenal Woman—a program being built in Brooklyn and East New York for women who want to leave sex work and the streets and build stable, independent lives of their own.
I · The Mission
Phenomenal Woman exists to give women a real second chance: a path toward stability, independence, and freedom.
At its center is a simple belief: no woman should have to trade her life or her body for love, money, or protection. She can learn to have her own back—and Phenomenal Woman intends to show her how.
II · Who It Is For
Women working the streets—many of them mothers, many carrying a dream they once had to set aside. Women who have been told this is the only life available to them.
III · How the Vision Works
Outreach
Women with lived experience go to where women are, leading with a real story and the knowledge that there is a door.
A Way Out
For each woman who wants it, the vision is to coordinate the support she needs to leave and stand on her own.
A New Foundation
The goal is not a way out for one night. It is real footing—money, skills, a home, support, and self-respect—so she never has to go back.
IV · The Support Around Her
- Counseling and group therapy
- Education and job support
- Financial guidance and public-benefit access
- Housing placement
- Childcare support
- Healthcare
- Spiritual foundation
V · What It Will Take to Begin
- A small outreach team led by women with lived experience
- Partnerships across housing, healthcare, education, and childcare in Brooklyn and East New York
- A safe intake space
- Seed funding for the first outreach cycle and first group of women
One woman's way out can become a door for another.
